CDL Truck Driver

Summary

As a CDL Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting goods across various routes while adhering to all traffic regulations and company policies. This role requires a valid CDL A license, ideally with hazmat and tanker endorsements. Your core skills in commercial and truck driving will be essential. Additionally, relevant experience in delivery driving, freight handling, and route navigation will contribute to the timely and efficient delivery of products. Education and/or Experience

High School diploma or equivalent education at least 3 years of similar experience. Proven experience of safe driving behavior and no serious driving convictions in the last five years.

Knowledge/Special Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to drive the Company truck and possess appropriate valid CDL Class A license, be HAZMAT certified and have a Tanker Endorsement
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Ability to drive safely and obey and adhere to applicable laws and regulations
  • General understanding of vehicle mechanics to communicate problems in case of breakdowns
  • Effectively use GPS, read maps, and follow directions
  • Effective use of hands-free equipment while driving
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced environment
  • Maintain a professional image as a representative of the company
  • Ability to read, and comprehend verbal and written instruction, correspondences and memos. Must be able to effectively communicate to other employees and customers of the organization
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Forklift certified (Company will train and certify)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Drives the Company truck to make pick-ups and deliveries between the Company’s facilities in Milwaukee and/or daily runs to a facility in Sheboygan.

  • Ensure compliance with procedures and regular safety checks of the Company truck to ensure safety at all times.
  • Display flexibility toward daily changing routes and working times.

4. Load and unload truck using a forklift when the Warehouse Operator is not available.

5. Report all injuries or damages to company truck to the S/R Distribution Manager.

6. Adhere to company policies and guidelines.

The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. The employee will be required to drop and hook loads, which involves lifting and dropping the trailer’s manual landing gear when performing a drop and hook. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to distinguish colors.
