Head HS Bowling Coach (2026-27)
Piper USD 203 is accepting applications for a high school bowling head coach for the 2026-27 school year. Position is open until filled. Essential ResponsibilitiesModel District Core Values: INCLUSIVITY, INNOVATION, COMMUNITY, INTEGRITY, PASSIONModel district guiding principles of Children First, Respect for All, Teamwork, Excellence in Quality and Commitment to Individual NeedsManage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions, to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanshipCoordinate the development and promotion of the programHold organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to participate in the programWork with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.Establish performance criteria and evaluate students' abilities initially and on a regular basis.Develop a regular practice schedule and organize practice time to provide both individual and team development.Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participationApply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property.Encourage sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation at all timesInstruct and advise students on NCAA regulations with regard to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practicesAssist student athletes with college recruitmentAssist the Athletic Director with the scheduling of performances and coordinate arrangementsAct as a team representative and promote the sport by communicating with the news media, booster clubs, service clubs, and other organizationsParticipate in special activities to include senior night, banquets, award nights and pep assembliesConferences with parents/guardians, as necessary, regarding performance of their studentRepresent Piper High School, the Piper School District and the program in a professional mannerMaintain nondiscriminatory practices in all activitiesAttend professional development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performancePerform any other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or other appropriate administratorFulfill roles and responsibilities as directed by the school's administration including, but not limited to, adherence to district guidelines for fundraising, trips, money management, honoring of contracts, credit card use and transportation (buses, rental vehicles, and school/district owned vehiclesConduct a pre-season meeting with parents in order to communicate all important information including, but not limited to, expectations/criteria for participation, sportsmanship guidelines, practice and game schedules, district guidelines for transportation, insurance, handling of injuries including concussions, parent-coach communication, substance abuse guidelines, lettering guidelines and additional responsibilities noted in job posting
Provide this information to all participants and the school administrationTeach and Coach in a positive and constructive mannerMaintain a professional attitude in all situations and adhere to the district's guiding principles for coachesProvide an environment that promotes good sportsmanshipComply and communicate to participants/parents all USD #203 Board Policies, including the fact that the Student Code of Conduct is in effect during and at all activitiesMaintain an inventory of equipment and submit order requests as neededUnderstand and implement the duties of any coach including, but not limited to, maintaining detailed practice plan, never leaving athletes unsupervised, providing detailed and repeated instruction with regards to the performance of high-risk activities, and the evaluation of injuries and lack of physical conditioningComply with all KSHSAA and USD #203 rules and regulations including, but not limited to, participant eligibility, required physical examinations, rules meeting attendance, rules test requirements, timely completion of all KSHSAA paperwork, district substance abuse policy, and other KSHSAA Handbook GuidelinesAdditional Knowledge/Skills/Attributes: Knowledge:Comprehensive knowledge of the sportExtensive knowledge of current coaching techniques and proceduresKnowledge of KSHSAA rulesDemonstrated ability to instruct and supervise student-athletes Skills:The applicant must possess the ability to communicate in spoken and written wordExcellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsThe applicant must possess the ability to relate to studentsThe applicant must be willing to accept a high level of accountabilityThe applicant must possess the ability to assess athletes effectively Attributes:The applicant should be a progressive thinker but a believer in planning and preparation
