About the Role

Cigna Healthcare, one of the largest health insurance and managed care companies in the United States, is hiring a Remote Human Resources Advisor to support its distributed workforce from home. In this strategic advisory role, you will partner with Cigna people managers and employees across multiple business units — providing expert HR guidance on employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and workforce planning.

This is a senior-level HR role that requires both deep knowledge of HR best practices and the emotional intelligence to navigate sensitive workplace situations with discretion and care. What You Will Do

  • Serve as the primary HR advisor for assigned Cigna business units — partnering with managers on day-to-day people issues
  • Manage employee relations cases including misconduct investigations, performance improvement plans, and termination processes
  • Interpret and apply Cigna HR policies, employment law, and compliance requirements consistently and fairly
  • Support annual HR cycles — performance reviews, merit increases, engagement surveys, and workforce planning activities
  • Assist with onboarding, benefits enrollment, leave administration, and offboarding for assigned employee populations
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition, Legal, and Total Rewards on complex or multi-functional people issues and initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field — required
  • Three or more years of HR generalist, HR business partner, or HR advisor experience
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred
  • Healthcare industry HR experience is a strong advantage given Cigna's business context
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems — Workday or SAP SuccessFactors experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills — able to build trust, communicate difficult messages, and influence without authority

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay: $22.00 to $30.00 per hour — commensurate with HR experience and certifications held
