Manager of Projects, Defense Contractors

Position Overview

The Defense Contractor portfolio within Federal – Buildings & Infrastructure is seeking candidates for a new Defense Contractor Manager of Projects (MoP) position. In this role, you will oversee a portfolio of projects, drive financial success, and foster professional growth among aligned Project Managers (PMs). You will review and approve key proposal and project contract documents, assess risks, set pricing strategies, and ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards. Collaboration with Operations Management, Financial, and Project Controls teams is key to aligning business plan forecasting and ensuring accurate project estimates to completion (ETCs).

Additionally, you will drive change management and cash flow optimization while supporting Client Account Managers (CAMs) to maintain strong client relationships. The location for this position is flexible as you will work with clients across various time zones and locations, with travel required to client and operations sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibilities: Review and approve Project Risk Registers/Mitigation Plans, Project Execution Plans, and Project Quality Plans.
  • Conduct monthly Project Reviews and document critical issues and actions.
  • Attend Project Administrative Reviews (PARs) for projects in the MoP portfolio meeting PAR thresholds.
  • Lead or participate in Pricing Reviews.
  • Review the accuracy of ETCs/EACs and address variances or issues with PMs.
  • Approve Revenue Recognition Workflows and provide Contract Delivery Review System (CDRS) approvals.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Architecture or Engineering.
  • Professional licensure, such as Professional Engineer (any state), AIA Registration, or PMP.
  • Experience Required: Project management and project execution experience with Defense Industrial Clients, along with financial acumen and experience in contracts and risk management.
  • Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills, and leadership abilities.
  • A passion for staff management and for helping PMs deliver successful client solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in a related field or an MBA.
  • Experience managing international programs.
  • Experience with large industrial campus projects (over $300m TIC) in design or construction.
  • Strong inspirational leadership skills.

  • Salary: $195,000.00 to $225,000.00
