Network Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a seasoned Network Engineer to join our Network Engineering team. Reporting to the Head of Network Engineering, you will help to architect and deliver enterprise-grade network solutions—encompassing LAN, WAN, data center, and cloud connectivity. You’ll ensure high-performing, secure, and scalable networks while driving/ exploring automation initiatives through tools like Python and Ansible etc.

As a trusted technical advisor, you will champion best practices, steer compliance with engineering standards, and collaborate with vendors and service teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

In this role, you will bridge engineering and operations by delegating tasks, leading design reviews, and elevating team capabilities. You will create and manage comprehensive documentation such as network diagrams and runbooks. You will also enforce policies and spearhead strategic initiatives—including proof of concepts, capacity planning and performance forecasting—to drive continuous improvement and maximize network resilience.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic Planning & Architecture

  • Support the implementation of network infrastructure based on the established strategy and architecture—across LAN, WAN, data centers, cloud, and telecom environments.
  • Assist with technical tasks related to projects and contribute to the deployment of network solutions under guidance from senior engineers or leads.

2. Network Design, Standards & Optimization

  • Assist in building and configuring network components according to design specifications and best practices.
  • Participate in performance tuning, network assessments, and documentation of optimization activities.
  • Follow defined standards and contribute feedback for potential improvements.

3. Operations and Reliability Management

  • Monitor network performance and assist in responding to incidents and alerts.
  • Perform routine maintenance, help with troubleshooting, and contribute to service restoration efforts.
  • Support the documentation of incidents and contribute to root cause analysis when applicable.

4. Team Leadership & Development

  • Work collaboratively within the engineering team and seek guidance and mentorship from senior team members.
  • Actively pursue learning opportunities, certifications, and skills development as part of career growth.
  • Participate in team meetings and share knowledge and findings with peers.

5. Vendor, Budget & Compliance Governance

  • Assist in reviewing vendor documentation and gathering technical requirements for new hardware or services.
  • Help track network assets and ensure documentation is up to date for compliance and audits.
  • Support testing of new tools, hardware, or configurations as part of vendor or lifecycle processes.

6. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Coordinate with other IT teams to support the rollout and integration of network services.
  • Gather and understand network requirements from project teams and assist in implementing solutions that meet business needs.
  • Communicate technical updates clearly and professionally to peers and relevant stakeholders.

7. Innovation & Technology Adoption

  • Explore new tools and technologies under the guidance of senior engineers and leads.
  • Assist in automation and scripting tasks (e.g., with Python, Ansible) to streamline network operations.
  • Participate in internal efforts to improve monitoring, alerting, and overall network performance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Malaysian citizen.
  • Obtain a pass in Bahasa Melayu, including an oral test in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science/ information technology or equivalent which is recognized by the Government from any local or abroad higher learning institution with a minimum CGPA of 3.00.
  • CCNA/ CCNP or any other equivalent certifications are an added advantage.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in network engineering/architecture across LAN/WAN/DC/cloud environments,
  • Proven track record overseeing large-scale, high-availability networks, including global or multi-site operations
  • Deep expertise in routing/switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN), datacenter architectures (spine-leaf), and SD-WAN or similar advanced technologies.
