Responsibilities MasTec Technical Services is seeking a full-time OSP Designer in support of a large-scale telecommunications project for both OSP Fiber and Copper Networks. Position requires experience with outside plant in aerial, buried and/or underground facilities, with a thorough knowledge of all issues related to federal, state or local government permitting; as well as pole and conduit licensing procedures with utility permitting agencies. The OSP Engineer must work cohesively with the Engineering PM. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:<div style="direction: ltr; border-width: 100%;"><div style="direction: ltr; margin-top: 0in; margin-left: 0in; width: 7.2256in;"><div style="direction: ltr; margin-top: 0in; margin-left: 0in; width: 7.2256in;"><ul><li>Receive field data collected, analyze local and wide area network systems, and develop most cost efficient fiber/copper network route design in accordance with customer specifications and guidelines.</li><li style="color: black;">Read and understand road prints, utility maps, and as-builts to identify conflicts with existing facilities.</li><li>Collaborate with any necessary vendor, as well as internal GIS and CAD teams to produce all required documentation for application packages.</li><li style="color: black;">Follow very specific and detailed procedures already implemented while remaining flexible enough to readily adapt to changing standards and procedures without notice.</li><li>Coordinate with project team for forecasting, scheduling, resources management, and quality assurance.</li><li>Review project deliverables for accuracy and apprise project management team of risks, issues, and recommended mitigations.</li><li>Work in tandem with various managers across the project to identify scope creep, manage to change orders, and complete routine billing.</li><li style="color: black;">Ensures the integrity of the customer access network is maintained and provides support for the deployment of access technologies.</li><li>Assist with as-built package completion and delivery as well as billing closeout.</li></ul></div></div></div> Qualifications Required Skills:<ul><li style="color: black;">Sound OSP engineering experience deploying fiber optic and Copper networks - Knowledge of engineering principles within OSP job related functional area including general practices, procedures and industry standards.</li><li style="color: black;">Knowledge of fiber optic and copper counts, fiber assignments, and splicing schematics in all OSP environments.</li><li>Knowledge of engineering tools including Microstation, AutoCAD, OCalc, 3-GIS,or any similar GIS/KMZ platforms.</li><li>Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google Sheets and Google Drive.</li></ul>Skills:<ul><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Possess STRONG communication & PEOPLE skills</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Strong language skills are required, both oral & written</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Show a “sense of urgency” to get the job done to meet all due dates</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Follow-up with our customer and provide a status of any and all assigned work</li><li>Proven ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels: from team members to executive management.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field is preferred, OR Telecomm, Engineering, or Drafting completed courses and diploma from a technical school or community college</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Qualify on pre-employment screening, including non-negligent driving record</li><li>Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Obtain satisfactory results from a background/employment history investigation and drug screening</li></ul>Work Environment:<ul><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Work in a virtual TEAM environment</li><li style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Work a schedule that parallels the hours of the work schedule of our customer </li></ul>Compensation:<ul><li>$30-32/hr</li></ul> Financial Security<ul><li>401(k) with company match</li><li>Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)</li><li>Life insurance</li><li>Short-term and Long-term disability</li></ul>Health and Wellness<ul><li>Medical, dental, and vision insurance</li><li>Dependent care and medical flexible spending accounts</li><li>Employee Assistance Program (EAP)</li></ul>Work/Life Balance<ul><li>Paid time off</li><li>Paid holidays</li><li>Family and medical leave</li><li>Paid sick time</li></ul> We meet your commitment with competitive pay and benefits.
