Pharmacy Technician – Prior Authorization – Work From Home
About the Role
We are hiring a Remote Pharmacy Technician specializing in Prior Authorization (PA) to process medication pre-authorization requests on behalf of a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) or health insurance company. You will review PA requests, communicate with providers, and ensure patients receive timely access to their medications — all from home.
What You Will Do
- Review and process prior authorization requests for prescription medications
- Contact physician offices to obtain clinical documentation and supporting information
- Apply clinical criteria and payer guidelines to approve or pend PA requests
- Document all PA decisions accurately in the pharmacy management system
- Follow HIPAA and PHI privacy regulations in all patient data handling
Requirements
- Active Pharmacy Technician license (CPhT) or state registration required
- 1+ year of prior authorization or pharmacy benefit management experience preferred
- Working knowledge of ICD-10 codes, NDC numbers, and formulary guidelines
- Home computer with high-speed internet and ability to access VPN securely
Pay & Benefits
- Pay: $18.00–$24.00 per hour
