What You Will Do

  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations of the chest, abdomen, extremities, and spine using fixed and portable digital X-ray equipment
  • Position patients accurately for each examination, applying proper immobilization and shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure
  • Select appropriate technical factors (kVp, mAs, SID) and apply AEC or manual technique to produce diagnostic-quality images on the first exposure
  • Perform fluoroscopic procedures including upper GI series, barium enemas, and video swallow studies under radiologist or physician supervision
  • Operate portable X-ray equipment in the emergency department, ICU, and operating room for trauma and surgical cases
  • Review images in PACS for diagnostic quality, retaking suboptimal projections before submitting to the radiologist for interpretation
  • Maintain accurate patient records in the RIS including exam documentation, dose recording, and contrast administration logs
  • Follow radiation safety regulations including ALARA principles, dosimetry badge monitoring, and monthly badge report review

What You Need

  • ARRT registration in Radiography (R) — current and in good standing
  • Active state radiologic technologist license where required by state law
  • Clinical proficiency in general radiography, fluoroscopy, and portable X-ray procedures
  • Ability to lift, position, and transfer patients safely with appropriate body mechanics and patient handling technique
  • Strong attention to image quality — proper positioning, technique, and artifact identification are critical
  • Familiarity with PACS and RIS workflows in a hospital or imaging center environment
  • Associate degree in Radiologic Technology — no four-year college degree required for this position

Nice to Have

  • ARRT post-primary certification in CT, mammography, fluoroscopy, or bone densitometry
  • CT scanning experience — CT-certified Rad Techs command a significant pay premium
  • Trauma radiography experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center emergency department
  • Experience with dual-panel DR (digital radiography) systems from major vendors (Carestream, Canon, Fuji, or Siemens)
