Responsibilities Lead a High-Performing Team Manage, mentor, and grow a team of senior Product Managers and Tax Technologists, ensuring clear role accountability, alignment on goals, and frictionless collaboration Drive Product Strategy & Roadmaps Oversee the strategic direction for our SAP connectors. Ensure your PMs are effectively defining roadmaps, prioritizing initiatives based on business value, and executing against the Plan of Record (POR) Ensure Implementation Reality Empower your Tax Technologists to embed in customer and partner implementation workstreams, connecting product intent with real-world execution and identifying recurring patterns in complex deployments Drive Cross-Functional Alignment Serve as the leadership bridge across Engineering, Technical Program Management (TPMs), partner teams, and Support. Resolve escalations and ensure decision clarity between product scope and deployment realities Own Business Outcomes Define and track KPIs for the SAP integration domain. Own the accuracy of leadership reporting (SteerCo and Operational Dashboards) and present clear updates on delivery outcomes and business value Customer & Partner Engagement Act as an escalation point for product-level customer issues. Partner with Strategic Partner Managers (SPMs) to align Avalara roadmaps with SAP’s ecosystem roadmaps Foster Continuous Improvement Ensure insights gathered from the field by TTs are explicitly incorporated into the product prioritization discussions led by PMs, preventing rework and driving higher product quality Skills 15+ years of experience in enterprise SaaS product management, tax technology, or software integrations, with at least 10+ years in a people leadership role managing senior individual contributors Deep Domain Expertise Strong understanding of ERP ecosystems, specifically SAP, S4Hana (Public & Private), ECC, BTP, and the complexities of enterprise software deployments and integrations Proven execution Demonstrated success in owning product strategy, roadmap delivery, and driving measurable business impact (KPIs, revenue, adoption) Operational Leadership Experience defining clear roles, decision-making frameworks (e.g., RACI), and operating cadences for multidisciplinary teams Customer-Centric Execution A track record of bridging the gap between high-level product strategy and the reality of complex, on-the-ground customer implementations Exceptional Communication Strong storytelling and stakeholder management skills; able to align executive leadership, engineering, and external partners Bachelor's degree in a related field (Business, Computer Science, Finance, etc.); advanced degrees are a plus Experience using AI and AI-related technologies, ready to thrive here Ability to apply AI every day to business challenges - improving efficiency, contributing solutions, and driving results for your team, our company, and our customers Curiosity about new trends and best practices in AI and willingness to share knowledge with others Benefits Paid time off Paid parental leave Many Avalara employees are eligible for bonuses Private medical, life, and disability insurance Inclusive culture and diversity Total of 8 employee-run resource groups, each with senior leadership and exec sponsorship Company Overview Avalara is a cloud-based platform that provides tax compliance software and automated solutions.
