Safety & Health Officer

Job description

  • Develop and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and ISO 14001/45001 systems.

  • Ensure compliance with Malaysia legal, customer, and company EHS requirements.

  • Liaise with authorities (DOSH, DOE, Bomba, etc.).

  • Manage EHS programs (CHRA, chemical exposure, noise, health surveillance).

  • Oversee contractor safety, chemical handling, and scheduled waste management.

  • Lead incident/accident investigation and implement corrective/preventive actions.

  • Plan and conduct emergency drills, ERP and business continuity exercises.

  • Ensure emergency equipment, first aid and clinic readiness and compliance.

  • Conduct EHS inspections, audits, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Deliver EHS training and promote safety culture.

  • Support EHS projects and provide technical guidance to operations/engineering.

  • Act as Secretary for Safety & Health Committee and manage poison licensing compliance.

  • Perform other assigned EHS duties.

Job Requirements
  • Diploma/Degree in Safety & Health / Environmental / Science / Engineering.

  • Certified Safety & Health Officer (SHO) by DOSH Malaysia (Green Book holder – mandatory).

  • Minimum 5 years EHS experience in manufacturing/chemical industries.

  • Strong knowledge of Malaysia EHS regulations and ISO 14001 / ISO 45001.

  • Hands-on experience in chemical safety, waste management, audits, emergency response.

  • Strong investigation, analytical, problem-solving skills; able to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.

  • Mandarin speaking/reading/writing is an advantage.

  • Self-motivated, good teamwork and discipline.
