Senior fractional food scientist → 15–25 hrs/week → 60–90 days → immediate start - Contract to Hire
We’re looking for a senior fractional food scientist / food engineer to help optimize a frozen high-protein, low-carb product line.
This is a hands-on, production-facing role for someone who can improve product performance in a live manufacturing environment. We need an expert who can assess current formulation and process variables, design structured line testing / A-B trials, improve product quality, and turn findings into clear specs and guidance for the production team.
What we need
Review current formulation, ingredients, specs, and production parameters
Identify likely drivers of quality issues
Design and validate improvements through structured testing
Improve texture, consistency, and overall eating experience
Build a practical sensory evaluation approach
Recommend updated product / process guidance
Document findings for continuity and team training
Strong fit if you have
8+ years in CPG product development
Experience with frozen foods, protein-based products, baked goods, or similar systems
Hands-on experience with high-protein / low-carb formulation
Experience troubleshooting on live commercial production lines
Exposure to commercial conveyor oven environments
Strong sensory evaluation and manufacturing test design skills
