Shipping and Receiving Clerk Part-Time - Warehouse Jobs Flexible
About the Role
Greate Consultant is placing part-time Shipping and Receiving Clerks with warehouses, distribution centers, and fulfillment operations. Shipping and receiving is one of the most transferable and reliably available part-time warehouse roles — every facility that handles physical goods has inbound and outbound freight, and every one of those facilities needs people to process it accurately. This role combines physical dock work with basic documentation and system entry, making it a great stepping stone for people interested in logistics, supply chain, or warehouse operations as a career.
What You Will Do
- Unload inbound freight from delivery trucks using a pallet jack or forklift (if certified) and stage pallets in the receiving area
- Count and inspect inbound shipments against the purchase order or advance ship notice, noting any shortages, overages, or damaged items
- Scan or key inbound receipt data into the warehouse management system, confirming item quantities and storage locations
- Stage outbound orders on the shipping dock, verify pick quantities against the packing list, and apply carrier labels
- Schedule or confirm outbound carrier pickups and record departure times and carrier tracking numbers in the shipping log
- Process freight claims for damaged inbound shipments by documenting damage photos and completing the carrier claim form
- Maintain the receiving area in a clean, organized, and safe condition throughout the shift
- Communicate inbound shipment status to the inventory control or purchasing team for orders that are late, short, or damaged
What You Need
- Basic computer skills for data entry into a WMS or shipping software platform
- Ability to operate a pallet jack safely — forklift certification is a plus but not required for all roles
- Strong attention to detail for count verification and shipment documentation
- Physical ability to work on an active dock — unloading freight, moving pallets, and standing for the shift duration
- Morning availability for most inbound roles, or afternoon availability for outbound shipping shifts
- Must be 18 or older — no degree required
Nice to Have
- Previous shipping and receiving or warehouse dock experience
- Sit-down or reach forklift certification
- Experience with UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager, or ShipStation
What We Offer
- Pay of $15 – $18 per hour with consistent part-time hours each week
- Clear role structure — inbound shift or outbound shift, same tasks, same time, every week
- All dock equipment provided — pallet jacks, hand trucks, and dock levelers
- Paid sick leave per applicable law
- Excellent experience base for full-time warehouse, logistics, or supply chain career progression
- Cross-training into inventory control and warehouse coordination for motivated clerks
